Imgarrbin (tempted) is the new original play by Gwann Abela ofm which SKENE is presenting at San Andrea Theatre (Luqa) for this year's Holy Week. It was staged on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th and is on also on Saturday 23rd March and Sunday 24th March.

Imgarrbin is a play which does not follow the traditional lines of the passion plays. In fact it tries to reach out and ponder in the depths of human nature in its quest for serenity and joy. Imgarrbin is also a voice shrieking in the silence of contemporary society in its search for light out of many dark tunnels. It questions the "voices" that want to "sell" to mankind illusions making us unaware of the real sense of life. The tragedy of the Cross comes out as an illumination and a meaningful experience if only we could listen to the inner voice calling us back to love and harmony. The Crucified One is there, with his arms outstretched, to receive one and all even at His Hour of suffering and death. Acting, singing, dancing, lighting, sound effects, music.... all contribute to make this work the most original play for Holy Week on the Maltese islands for 2002.

An important role will be played by the backstage crew together with a group of "dancers" (choreography by Evelyn La Rosa) and an original music score which will be played live by the composers Patrick Camilleri and John Fsadni. The play is directed by the author himself, Gwann Abela ofm. THIS WEEKEND'S PERFORMANCES ARE FULLY BOOKED
